Atelier Swarovski

Launching exclusive, handmade crystal jewellery and accessories

Atelier Swarovski launches its fifth collection for Autumn/Winter 09 featuring exclusive, handmade crystal jewellery and accessories in collaboration with Christopher Kane, Anthony Nak, Philip Crangi, Stephen Webster and Giles Deacon.

“This season, we have had the honour to work with globally renowned fashion and jewellery designers. Their innovative vision and creativity has resulted in a collection of artistic and wearable contemporary crystal accessories, which celebrate Swarovski crystal and inspirational design,” says Nadja Swarovski, Vice President International Communications.

Inspirational designs

For his fifth Atelier Swarovski collection, Christopher Kane translates influences from the Pharonic middle-east into a traditionally Western composition.

“In ancient Egypt the scarabs were revered as sacred and very good fortune… I thought it would be really beautiful to combine Swarovski crystal with these resin scarabs to create regal-like jewellery. I have used Swarovski’s large fancy crystals with antique-like settings to give a regal luxurious feel to the collection,” says Kane.

New York based jewellery designer Philip Crangi’s debut collection for Atelier Swarovski features sleek Art Deco inspired hexagonal shapes, offset by classic jet and crystal baguettes delicately set into bangles, cuffs and earrings.

“I wanted to explore the idea of Dark Glamour – creating something mysterious and chic that uses the language of great, important jewellery of the 1930s, but reflects the idea of
glamour today,” says Crangi.

Universally acclaimed fashion designer Giles Deacon fuses fabrics, felts and crystals. Luxuriously soft necklaces and bracelets in elaborate laser cut designs are embellished with crystals in various settings.

“We are working with (…) hand-stamped and hand-marked artworks with the Crystallized™ Swarovski Elements. There will be necklaces in fantastic shapes. The crystals come in a great palette from which I have selected colours including, Golden Shadow, Light Rose and Peridot. There will be big explosions of crystal in this collection as well as delicate touches...”

With all of this and more, Atelier Swarovski’s Autumn Winter 2009 collection seems to be a promising one!
